Oh you guys, we have been dealing with dishwasher woes since before Halloween. We bought our dishwasher in March 2016 so it was just over a year and a half old when the problems began. It started having a drain issue and could not complete a cycle. The drain pump and circuit board were replaced with no luck. And the hoses, traps and filters were tested, inspected and found to be free of clogs. Our sink was snaked and pipes cleaned and no problems there either. I somehow had the mind to buy a 5 year warranty when I bought the thing (probably because they told me I would get my money back if I didn’t use it). So we will be getting a new dishwasher installed 2 days before Christmas. And we still have not gotten our countertops and sink replaced and our backsplash installed. I have no clue when that will happen:( But that does not mean there could not be some Christmas in the kitchen!
That was a lot of rambling to say that even if you are not loving your home and your to-do wish list is a mile long, go ahead and deck it out for the holidays! Its worth it!
You may have spied that I did spray paint this pendant above our island black. It used to be silver. I love it black!
Twinkly lights help everything become magical.
And a little greenery goes a long way. Whether it is natural like the branch on my island or faux like the garland around our kitchen window, it adds a lot to your space. I totally lucked out and found these little lights in the Target dollar section and knew immediately I needed them for my Christmas kitchen! My 7 year old was so disappointed when I told him he could not use them to make our cut out cookies- ha!
We did add these Hearth and Hand items to our cookie cutter collection this year. And I am keeping them on display because they are adorable!
The only time I wear an apron in the kitchen is when I am baking Christmas cookies. But I keep this apron on display at all times, like I use it constantly because I am just a baking away all the time. This post is turning into a confessional.
I did a little Christmas styling of my coffee bar, too.
I found these little holiday to-go cups in the Target dollar section, of course.
When I saw this “I run on coffee & Christmas cheer” mug in the cutest little shop in Wausau, WI, I made it mine fast. It is perfection.
That is our Christmas kitchen in all its imperfect glory!
