I am finally getting around to sharing some fall living room updates today. Remember when I painted one wall in my bedroom an army green? Well, before I did that, I tested the color out on our living room TV cabinet. I have been wanting to do something with with the cabinet (sand down and leave raw or white wash or paint) but I was not sold on anything. Until army green started creeping up all over my Pinterest feed.
On Monday, I took my daughter on a wild goose chase to get some cute green and white pumpkins and they were nowhere to be found! Not anywhere! There were loads of orange pumpkins but no white or green ones. So I had to stick with some faux pumpkins for my fall dining room decor. But I did find a neat plant (some sort of cabbage plant? I have no idea what it is) at the grocery store to add some green to my fall dining room.
It is a little early to find some real pumpkins but I thought I could still get a little fall infused into my entryway. Our entryway is one of my favorite areas to decorate. It is the first area that guests see and it is also the area that we see every morning after we wake up and go downstairs. So I like to have that area looking cute. But it is not big by any means, so I need to avoid clutter or it will not function properly. About twice a year, I do a little purge of this this area and get rid of shoes and coats that the kids have grown out of and purge other random stuff that landed here. Once that was done, I did a few minor updates to create our fall entryway.
One of my favorite spaces in our house is our window seat that I designed and my dad built. The window seat was installed in March so I have not gotten to change it up for fall or Christmas. Until now. It is mid-August and there is a slight chill in the air in the evenings here in WI (despite it still being grossly humid during the day). Naturally, the bin of faux pumpkins, fall pillow covers and wheat were whispering my name. Plus, I like to switch things up a lot and I was getting bored with looking at summer version of the window seat. It was time for a fall window seat update.
I think this is our living room? Honestly, I don’t know the difference between living room and family room. I grew up in a house where we had a living room and then a kitchen/dining/sitting area. No family room, per se. So in my house, I call this room our living room. Besides the dining room and entry way, this is the only other area of our house I decorated for fall. And by “decorate” I really just mean pillow cover changes, a few fall-ish vignettes and some general decor rearranging. So lets get on with this fall living room reveal.
