Hey! I took a little blogging break as we were busy having a super fun fall! It has been jam packed with activity but we had so.much.fun. I have the week off and I have been working on getting the house Christmas ready. We will be doing an advent calendar again this year and I wanted to show you where I put it and how I put it up. I am also going to link to the free printable that I created last year (which I used again this year). Without further ado, here is my 2017 advent calendar + printable.
As I already mentioned, I used the same advent calendar printable I made up last year.
You should be able to just save the images above to your computer in order to print these out.
Our 2016 advent calendar was on our big chalkboard in our dining room sitting area. Since then, I have moved our chalkboard so it is not in reach of the littles. I wanted them to be able to open the activity for the day so I had to think up something else to use. When we finished our basement bonus room, I picked up a ladder type wall hanging. I knew that could work if I tied our advent activities to it. So I moved it to our dining room sitting area, embellished it with some greens from my yard, garlands and the advent activities.
We ended up doing several write-ins this year as our December already has some activities scheduled that last year did not have (ie Buck’s game, early Christmas with my family).
I also had to be careful to have quick and easy activities for Wednesdays and Thursdays. My 7 year old will be starting wrestling on these nights in December!
I do not have treats or candy in our advent calendar so there is no fighting over the prize! A mama needs to keep her sanity!
You certainly do not have to make your own advent calendar. There are some really cute ones at Target and Michaels that you can just stuff with goodies and/or these printable activities.
I gathered up a bunch of our Christmas books and put them near the calendar to have them handy. This will help when the activity to read them comes up! I am sure as soon as my book-crazy daughter sees them she will hoard in her room. Oh well, I tried.
Are you going to do an advent calendar this year? Or do you think they are more stressful than fun?
